Amendment in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016
On 17 July, 2019, the Union Cabinet approved some important amendments in the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (“Code”). These amendments are proposed to be carried out through the Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Amendment) Bill, 2019 ("Amendment Bill"). As stated in the press release dated 17 July, 2019 issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, the amendments aim to fill critical gaps in the corporate insolvency resolution framework as enshrined in the Code, while simultaneously maximizing value from the corporate insolvency resolution process.
